Groups and Classes

If you or your child need help getting through this difficult time, the Center for Child Protection offers group therapy sessions and classes. Group therapy can be a great source of support because you will work with families that are going through difficult times similar to your own. Pre-registration is required and child care is provided. Teen Protective Parenting Group - 2012 Session 2

When: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 - Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Where: Center for Child Protection (Map It)

Wednesday afternoons, 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

If your family is involved in a case of abuse or neglect, this group can help you work through what has happened with other teen parents dealing with the same issues. In this group, you will learn how to:

  •         talk to your child about what has happened
  •         protect your child from dangerous situations
  •         deal with emotions such as anger and guilt

Family Violence Protective Parenting Group - 2012 Session 2

When: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 - Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Wednesday evenings, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Parent Education Class

The Center also offers education classes that will give you the basic skills to become a better mom or dad. In this class, you will learn how to:

  • understand your child's needs at different ages
  • clearly communicate and listen to your child
  • create a healthy and safe home environment
