Equipped with talking points, vignettes, and statistics, the Center for Child Protection has speakers available who can speak to community groups, such as religious organizations, service groups, day care centers, neighborhood associations, civic organization, and PTAs. If you know of an organization that would benefit from learning about the Center for Child Protection or have a speaking opportunity to share, please contact Dorina Cockman at 512/472-1164 x235 or dcockman@centerforchildprotection.org.
Contrary to popular belief, a majority of children are harmed by people they know. In 2007, only 6 percent of children who came to the Center reported that they were harmed by strangers.
