Complete Rules/Guidelines
- Raffle tickets cost $100 each.
- Only 2,000 raffle tickets were sold. The odds of winning the 2008 Lexus RX 400h Hybrid Luxury Utility Vehicle are 1:2,000.
- There were three available prizes:
1st Place: 2008 Lexus RX 400h Hybrid Luxury Utility Vehicle
2nd Place: $2,500 Simon Mall Gift Card®
3rd Place: Round-trip airline tickets on Continental Airlines to any destination in the Continental U.S., Canada, or Mexico sponsored by Tramex Travel. - The winner of the 2008 Lexus RX 400h Hybrid Luxury Utility Vehicle was announced at the inaugural Dancing with the Austin Stars event on December 2, 2007 at the Hilton Austin. Individual tickets to Dancing with the Austin Stars were available for $150, which would have been in addition to a raffle ticket purchase. Attendance was *not* required to win.
- Winners should be 18 years old or older.
- Center for Child Protection employees (current or former) and their immediate family members (spouse, parents, grandparents, children, or siblings) were not eligible to win.
- Winner did not need to be present at the Dancing with the Austin Stars event on December 2, 2007 to win a prize.
- The winner of the 2008 Lexus RX 400h Hybrid Luxury Utility Vehicle MUST pay tax, title, and license fees as well as income tax withholding (28% of the value of the Lexus, or an estimated $12,150.) Sales tax at 6.25% is estimated at $2,718.75; license and registration is estimated at $184.05; vehicle inventory tax is estimated at $96.14, for a total estimate of $2998.94 in taxes and registration fees.
- According to federal tax laws, raffle tickets are not tax deductible because you are purchasing a chance to win a prize.
- 100% of money raised by selling raffle tickets supports a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, the Center for Child Protection.
- The Center for Child Protection 2007 Luxury Car Raffle complies with the 1989 Charitable Raffle Act.
- The raffle is sponsored by the Friends of Christopher Guild, the Center for Child Protection’s ladies’ volunteer organization. Formed by concerned women and mothers in our community, the Friends of Christopher Guild is committed to sustaining and expanding the safety net for abused children in Travis County through its support of the Center for Child Protection.
