April 3, 2007 - Light of Hope
Friends and neighbors joined in protecting and celebrating our children at the 3rd Annual Light of Hope Celebration. The celebration was held Tuesday, April 3, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the George Washington Carver Library (1161 Angelina Street). Light of Hope included an evening of family activities, music, child performances, free food and a message of hope as the Austin community came together to mark April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. April 22-28, 2007 - Crime Victims' Rights Week
The Center for Child Protection in collaboration with the Crime Victims' Task Force observed Crime Victims' Rights Week to spread the word of the help available to child and adult victims of crime. April 27, 2007 - Child Fatality Review Team Press Conference
The Child Fatality Review Team announced the findings from its 2006 Annual Report on why children in Travis County are dying in the hopes of preventing future accidental deaths. The press conference was held on the Center's front lawn. Read all the reports here.
October 17-18, 2007 - Child Protection Team Training - Detecting Deception in Child Sexual Offenders
Child Protection Team members are invited to attend a two-day conference entitled "Detecting Deception in Child Sexual Offenders." Veronique Valliere, Psy.D., will speak on "Understanding and Interviewing Offenders and Their Victims" on Wednesday, October 17th from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. FBI Special Agent James T. Clemente will speak on "Child Sexual Offender Typologies/Child Sexual Abuse Continuum" on Thursday, October 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. TCLEOSE and CEU credits are available.
