A HUGE thank you to KB Home, Lexus of Austin and the NFL Alumni - Austin Chapter who helped raise over $200,000 during the 11th Annual NFL Alumni Golf Classic and Caring for Kids Banquet. During the banquet, the NFL Alumni - Austin Chapter bestowed their annual “Person of the Year” award on Edith Royal, wife of the late Darrell K. Royal. The annual banquet also included silent and live auctions, check presentations from KB Home and Lexus of Austin along with a live announcement of the NFL Alumni golf team captains for the tournament the following day. The highest bid item of the night was the Lexus Champions for Charity National Championship at Pebble Beach package which garnered $26,000!
The next morning, more than 30 former NFL players including Raul Allegre, Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Bill Bates, Mike Haynes, Ty Detmer, and John Haines teamed up with team sponsors to compete for an all-expense paid trip to the NFL Alumni’s 2014 Super Bowl of Golf. Grand prize at the tournament went to Gibson Plumbing, made up of Barry Bankler, Brett Bartley, Brett Doerr, Tommy Harrison and NFL captain Kerry Cash. The second place team was from Maxwell Locke & Ritter, and third place went to DNT Construction/ Greater Austin Development. The putting contest winner, sponsored by American Airlines, was Ed “Too Tall” Jones.

The money raised will help the Center for Child Protection provide forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling and intervention during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases.
